The Best Way To Explore The Cotswolds

The Cotswold is a perfect place for tourists and holidaymakers who wants to enjoy a perfect escape from the real world. Considered as one of the most spectacular destinations in England, the Cotswold offers a variety of adventures you can explore together with your friends, family and kids. The place is also an absolute destination for a romantic vacation among couples. The region dwells in Gloucestershire and includes Cheltenham, Stroud, Cirencester, South Cerney and other rural locations in-between. It enclose many historical villages and towns which are filled with Cotswold cottages where visitors are accommodated.

The whole terrain features spectacular views of the countryside. Just in case you don't know, the entire Cotswold has preserved its culture for over 300 years! Which means time stood still in that particular place for more than three centuries. Inside towns and villages, you will be amazed by hundreds of cottages made of stone, thatched roofs and gables. A trek on the Cotswold unfolds historic houses, majestic castles, ancient churches, and typical English neighborhoods.

My idea of exploring the Cotswold is simple - use your feet. Traveling on foot around the Cotswold can be exhausting but for people who loves to hike, this might be the best idea there is. This can also provide you an incomparable opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the "Heart of England". But before you can do this, you must first select the best location to serve as a starting point and I recommend Chipping Campden. The location of this village is very ideal. It is lined with Cotswold cottages, pubs, shopping centers and inns made by the region's distinctive stone. Finding a place to stay at Chipping Campden is rather easy. It offers a wide variety of highly rated Bed and Breakfast inns, regular chain hotels, and luxury accommodations like refurbished manor houses and hotels.

Chipping Campden is the other end of the 102 mile Cotswold Way National Trail that extends to Bath. The trail extends to the nearby Dovers Hill and if you hike another 3 miles, you will reach Broadway Tower where you will enjoy the view of  the Vale of Evesham. You can grab a snack or eat lunch in pubs and restaurants in Broadway and make it a circuit hike back to your cottage. But if you don't have enough time, you can take the local bus and ride 10 miles, stop by Stratford-on-Avon to sight see and have a glorious dinner at Sorrento and watch a Thursday or Saturday matinee before calling it a day.

For non-hikers, you can choose to travel by train or car and visit all points of interest. A good itinerary can also help you manage your time and pick the locations that you want to prioritize. Other helpful tools you can use while exploring the Cotswolds are Google maps, distance calculator, and the Cotswolds Timetables which are all accessible using the internet. Have fun!
